The Myriad Shades of Living

While some love visualising, others like reading words which pierces their mind and souls. It is with this thought that we decided to collaborate on something which can create a significant and positive impact.

In this shot 3-piece series, me and Yogesh Bhusare [a creative designer, illustrator in Mumbai, India], try to engage with the different aspects of our lives through poetry and visual art respectively, to throw some light on some facets, some which we notice and others we don’t, or choose not to.

War and Peace

War and Peace

War and peace are expired concepts for me

I equated war with the uprooted trees and naked screams

While peace existed in the valleys of your bosoms

Now each time I lie on your lap

Feels like I’m taking stroll through a field of landmines

Death is in my bedroom, kitchen and the bathroom

Death is in your arms

The Woman at the Stairway

The Woman at the Stairway

With a wrinkled and lacerated skin
She stands still at the end of the stairway
With her arms stretched out
I sometimes wonder
If her arms are open for some qualms
Or for a hug

I am just blind like the others
When I give a glance at her
For a sudden moment
I do feel a sense of compassion
From my realisations, I cannot hide
Now I know, that fraction of a pity
Was more to quench my thirst of feeling sane

I always wondered
When I made eye contact
She looked dead straight
In a way, I think
She knew the society better than me
Knew how futile we were
Knew how fragile, is our sense of self-worth
Knew the balance of our truth and hypocrisy
And to which side we tip over

I now think of her face
Who is she seeing with her broken spectacles?
Hopefully some walls from the inside
Or maybe an empty stairway?
Doesn’t matter
To her, the stairway was empty
Even when I was walking down from it

Don’t

Don’t

I have an anger problem
You don’t

You have a tendency to ask questions
I don’t

I have a tendency to not answer every question pointed at me
You don’t

You have some pills to keep mental semblance
I don’t

I have you to take care of me
You don’t
